MOBILE MCI RESPONSE UNIT

A mass-casualty incident (MCI) is an event that generates many casualties to the extent that emergency medical services resources, such as personnel and equipment, are overwhelmed by the number and severity of the casualties.

Unfortunately, Israel has had much experience with dealing with MCIs with the rise of terror attacks throughout the country. MCIs mean that emergency teams must work in a different way than they would in a regular setting with the goal of saving as many lives as possible in a particularly challenging situation. In response to the many mass-casualty events in Israel, Magen David Adom created a unique mobile MCI response unit to maximize the resources that become available on site.

Keren Yosef donated a fully-equipped mobile MCI unit (Ta’aran) to Magen David Adom in the memory of our founder, Mrs. Doris Mainzer z”l.

This unit serves a wide area of the stretching from Mevasseret Zion to Kiryat Gat.

What is Mobile MCI Response Unit?

An mobile MCI response unit (Ta’aran) is a special ambulance specifically designated for use in mass-casualty events especially refurbished and stocked with equipment allowing emergency teams to give maximum life-saving treatment to the injured on site and during evacuation to the hospital.
